Signal · Telepathy
Send an image, mind to mind.

How to play
Step 1 of 5
Send an image
A Daily round begins with an image for you to send.
- For five seconds, hold the whole image in mind.
- Notice its colors, shapes, texture, scale, movement, and mood.
- It goes anonymously to another player.
Step 2 of 5
Receive an impression
Next, you receive an image someone else sent. Its four choices stay hidden.
- Settle for five seconds and notice what comes to mind.
- Notice qualities before you try to name anything.
- No Signal ready yet? Yours waits for another player. Check back later the same day.
Step 3 of 5
Rank your matches
Four images appear after your impression time.
- Tap images in order of how well they match. One choice is enough. Tap again to remove an image, or select No choice.
- You’ll see your receive result right away.
- Your own sent image may be matched later, when another player responds.
- Pick 1 image
- 1st choice: 6 pointsIf you didn’t pick the target: 2 points.
- Pick 2 images
- 1st: 6 points · 2nd: 4 pointsIf you didn’t pick the target: 1 point.
- Pick 3 images
- 1st: 6 · 2nd: 4 · 3rd: 2 pointsIf you didn’t pick the target: 0 points.
- Pick 4 images
- 1st: 6 · 2nd: 4 · 3rd: 2 · 4th: 0 points
For example. You pick the mountain, then the waterfall. The waterfall is the target: Miss · 4 points. It was your second choice.
Step 4 of 5
How points work
Your points depend on how many images you pick and where the target appears in your choices.
- Hit means your first choice was the target: 25% by chance.
- Random rankings average 3 points.
- No choice is unscored.
Step 5 of 5
Play with a friend
Send a Signal to someone you know, and receive theirs.
- Tap Play with a Friend and choose who to send to. You both need accounts.
- Your friend has seven days to respond. After you receive one, you can send a Signal back.
- Friend rounds are kept as a separate record from Daily rounds.
Psi Explained, Ep. 4: Telepathy
One looks. One picks from four.
One minute on telepathy research: the Sinclair drawings of 1930, the ganzfeld experiments, Sheldrake’s telephone tests, and a round of Signal.
The text is on screen, so it plays without sound too.
The practice
Send
Hold the whole image in mind: its colors, shapes, texture, scale, and mood.
Settle
Before you receive, let the image you sent go and quiet your attention.
Notice
Let impressions come before any choices appear. Notice qualities before you try to name anything.
Rank
Order the images by how well they fit your impressions, then review the target.
Where it comes from
Since the 1970s, the best-known telepathy experiment has been the ganzfeld. A receiver relaxes with soft light and steady sound while a sender in another room concentrates on a randomly chosen image. Afterward the receiver picks it from a set of four.
32%
hit rate across 329 sessions in an automated ganzfeld series, where chance is 25%.
Bem and Honorton, 199478
ganzfeld studies from 1974 to 2020, by 46 lead investigators, in the most recent review.
Tressoldi and Storm, 202440%
correct in 571 telephone trials of naming which of four possible callers was on the line. Chance is 25%.
Sheldrake and Smart, 2003
Figures are as reported by the researchers. Researchers have long disagreed about what explains results like these, and telepathy is still debated.
How Signal is built
Signal keeps the sender, the unseen target, and the choice among four. It is a relay: the image you send and the image you receive belong to different rounds.
The target is set first
Each image is fixed before its sender sees it, and before any receiver begins.
You receive without seeing
The four images stay hidden until your impression time ends.
Four images, one target
Your ranking locks before the target is shown. Chance for a first choice is 25%.
Daily or with a friend
Daily rounds pair you anonymously with another player. Friend rounds are kept as a separate record.
Reading your results
Hit or Miss describes your first choice, with chance at 25%. Points describe your whole ranking, with a chance average of 3.
- Both measures describe the same response. Read them together.
- No choice is saved and left unscored.
- The image you sent is resolved later, when another player responds.
